most candle companies name candles like real estate listings: 'autumn harvest farmhouse gathering.' we name ours like pets. one word, lowercase, load-bearing. here's the philosophy and some lore.

the rules

rule one: the name is a feeling, not an ingredient list — the label already lists the notes; the name's job is the vibe. rule two: lowercase always (the candle isn't shouting, why should the label?). rule three: if you can't say it while pointing at your own heart, it's not ready.

loops — named in four seconds, the fastest unanimous decision in company history. some things simply smell like their name. zen — because 'the exhale you take when the house is finally quiet' didn't fit on the label. proper — for the scent that stands up straight. the designer collection went aspirational on purpose — first class, penthouse, black tie — names that upgrade the room before the wick's even lit.

the test kitchen

every name gets said out loud in the sentence 'we're burning ___ tonight.' if it sounds natural, it ships. if it sounds like a password hint, back to the list. (rip 'cozy vibes no. 7,' you never had a chance.)
