Products & Ingredients

What are your candles made of?

All melt. candles are hand-poured using 100% natural soy wax. Soy wax burns cleaner and longer than paraffin, and is biodegradable and renewable.

Are your candles non-toxic?

Yes. We use clean-burning soy wax with no paraffin, no phthalates, and no harmful toxins. Our fragrances are carefully selected to be skin-safe and home-safe.

What kind of wicks do you use?

We use wooden wicks, which crackle softly as they burn — like a mini fireplace. Wooden wicks also produce a cleaner, more even burn than traditional cotton wicks.

How long do your candles burn?

Burn time varies by size: our 2 oz candles burn approximately 10–15 hours, 8 oz candles 40–55 hours, and 16 oz candles 80–100 hours. Proper candle care (see below) will maximize your burn time.

Are your candles made in the USA?

Yes — every melt. candle is small-batch, hand-poured in the USA.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Our candles are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. We never test on animals and use no animal-derived ingredients.

Candle Care

How do I get the best burn from my candle?

Follow these steps for the perfect burn every time:

First burn: Allow your candle to burn until the entire top layer melts to the edges (1–2 hours). This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.

Trim the wick: Before each burn, trim your wooden wick to about ¼ inch. This prevents soot, mushrooming, and uneven burning.

Burn time: Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Let the candle cool completely before relighting.

Why is my wooden wick not staying lit?

Wooden wicks need to be trimmed before each burn. If your wick is too long or has charred debris on the tip, it won't light easily. Break off the burnt tip and try again — it should light right up.

My candle is tunneling. What do I do?

Tunneling happens when a candle isn't burned long enough on the first use. To fix it, use aluminum foil to create a tent over the top of the candle (leaving a small opening) and burn until the wax pools to the edges. Always allow a full melt pool on first burn going forward.

What makes wooden wicks different from cotton wicks?

Wooden wicks burn horizontally and create a soft, crackling sound — like a mini fireplace. They produce a wider, more even flame that throws scent more efficiently than a cotton wick. They also produce less soot and mushrooming, making for a cleaner burn overall.

How do I light a wooden wick?

Wooden wicks light a little differently than cotton — here's how to do it right:

1. Trim first. Before every burn, break or trim off any charred wood from the tip until the wick is about ¼ inch (6mm) tall. Charred debris prevents ignition.

2. Tilt and hold. Hold your lighter or match at an angle and run the flame slowly across the full width of the wick — don't just touch one spot. Give it 3–5 seconds.

3. Be patient. Wooden wicks take a moment to catch. If it doesn't light right away, let it cool for 10 seconds and try again after re-trimming.

Why does my wooden wick keep going out?

This is almost always a trimming issue. The most common causes:

Wick too long: A wick over ¼ inch will draw too much wax and drown itself out. Trim it down.

Charred tip not removed: The burnt black crust on the tip blocks fuel flow. Snap it off completely before relighting.

Wax is too deep: On a new candle, the wick may struggle until a proper melt pool forms. Make sure you allowed a full melt pool on the first burn.

How do I trim a wooden wick?

Use your fingers, a nail clipper, or small scissors to snap or trim off the charred black tip before each burn. You're aiming for a clean, unburned wood surface about ¼ inch tall. Never trim so short that the wick is below the wax line.

My wooden wick flame is too high / too low — what do I do?

Flame too high: Extinguish the candle, let it cool, and trim the wick shorter. A wick over ¼ inch will produce an oversized flame.

Flame too low or flickering: The wick may be too long with debris on the tip, or the melt pool is too shallow. Trim the wick and ensure you burned long enough on previous sessions to build a proper wax pool.

When should I stop burning my candle?

Stop burning when there is approximately ½ inch of wax remaining. Burning below this level can cause the container to overheat. The tin is recyclable — clean it out and repurpose it!
